Dennis H. Schafer:      Dec. 18. 1943 - Feb. 19, 2008

Dennis H. Schafer, 64 of Woodland, passed away at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento Tuesday, Feb. 19 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born and raised in Woodland, the son of the late John Henry and Marie (Constance) Schafer. He graduated from Woodland High School in 1961 and went on to attend Barber College. He married his high school sweetheart, Janie Louise Henley on Jun 21, 1963. Dennis and Janie raised three children. Dennis was a loving husband, father and papa, whose favorite pastimes were hunting fishing, camping and just spending time with his family. He was a faithful 49er fan and loved rooting for the Sacramento Kings.

As a young man he played slow pitch softball for many years and went on to coach his own children in various sports and activities and continued to give his love and support to all he knew throughout his life.

Dennis is survived by his loving family, wife, Janie Schafer, daughters, Kelly Sheets and husband David and Katy Flores and husband Steven of Woodland, son, Jeff Schafer and wife Desiree of Natomas and also by four loving grandchildren, granddaughters, Hannah, Bailey, Madisyn and grandson Jordan Sheets. He also leaves behind brothers, Irvin Schafer and wife Dorothy, Leroy Schafer and wife Jan and Gary Schafer and wife Sandy, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be dearly missed.

Internment was at Monument Hill, Woodland, California.
